Let the Music Play

I have known Avin Loki Baird since we were both young, full of dreams and relatively innocent. We were both involved in a fledgling music group that brought traditional and folk music to NE Ohio. We spent hours sharing our wishes, lies and dreams into the wee hours of the night and the baby hours of the morning.

Since that time, we have both explored the arts, Avin as a builder of instruments, painter and incredible musician. She has played music for free for many many years, and this is, for her, an opportunity to produce and distribute a CD of the music that comes from her heart and soul.

Avin, who has successfully battled breast cancer, is currently dealing with other health issues. These challenges haven’t stopped her from writing and playing and singing from her heart.  She has worked hard and is now down to the wire in her quest to produce and distribute a CD of her fine work. She writes:

“This collection of music was recorded in 2011 as a tribute to violinist and vocalist Freyda Epstien who died tragically in 2003. The music is based in the traditional styles indigenous to West Virginia where Avin and Freyda worked together.  At that time they had hoped to release a record but were never able to due to Freyda’s passing. These songs were inspired by this friendship and musical partnership.”
